Engineering and Technical Education: With several universities and a number of colleges, offering undergraduate and postgraduate engineering courses in various branches, India is referred to as a Mecca for finding engineers suited to various cutting edge technology jobs. In an academic session, over huge numerous students take admission in engineering institutes and colleges. All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) is a national-level apex advisory body to conduct a survey on the facilities available for technical education and to promote development in the country in a coordinated and integrated manner.

Medical Education: Indian Medical Institutes are known worldwide for providing medical education of international standards. There are university level institutions and medical colleges offering undergraduate programmes in medicine and related areas that include pharmacy, Ayurveda, Unani, Homeopathic and nursing. All medical/ dental/ pharmacy/ nursing colleges in India are recognised and regulated by the respective statuary bodies, i.e. Medical council of India / Dental Council of India /Pharmacy Council of India / Indian Nursing Council, at central level.

Agricultural/Veterinary Education: India is the most preferred destination for agricultural education, including study of animal sciences, dairy and fishery sciences. These are offered both at the college and University level. All universities also offer Ph.D Programmes in these specialisations. The universities offering agricultural educations in India are under the control of an apex national body, Indian Council for Agricultural research (ICAR), which is responsible for the promotion and coordination of agricultural research and higher education in various branches of Agriculture and Allied Sciences.

Natural/Applied Sciences: A variety of Programmes are available in natural and applied sciences. There are several traditional universities and numerous colleges offering degree in various science streams. Undergraduate programmes are offered in more than 150 disciplines while post graduate in more than 50 specialisations.
