Title: | Compact Membrane Pilot Plants for Removal of Fluoride, Arsenic, and Nitrate From Ground Water by Reverse Osmosis |
Area: | Earth, Atmosphere & Environment Sciences |
Focus Area: | Water-based Technologies |
Status: | Technogy is tranfered for real field application. RO plants are installed in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Tamilnadu to provide safe drinking water to school children who otherwise were drinking contaminated pond water directly. |
Patent: | Developed with the help of permionics private limited for rural applications. |
Social Benefits: | Flouride, arsenic and other heavy metal contamination is one of the major problem affecting a major population that is being adressed by installing these plants. This plant removes all impurities, arsenic, fluoride and nitrate in a single step including excess total dissolved solids (TDS). Retention of sufficient mineral content, Ca, Mg, P, Na, K essential for human consumption and health. Provides purified water for small habitats of 10 to 20 hamlets such as schools, colleges and hospitals. |
