Startup Under NQM Launches One of Nation’s Most Powerful Quantum Computers
On the occasion of World Quantum Day 2025, Bengaluru-based startup QpiAI—one of the eight startups selected under the National Quantum Mission (NQM) coordinated by the Department of Science and Technology (DST)—announced the launch of QpiAI-Indus, a quantum computing system powered by 25 superconducting qubits. This marks a significant milestone as India’s first full-stack quantum computer, integrating advanced processors, scalable quantum control, and AI-augmented software for hybrid computing applications.
The system aims to revolutionize sectors such as life sciences, drug discovery, materials research, mobility, and climate action. Since its inception in 2019, QpiAI has filed 11 patents and attracted support from the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), driving its mission to establish a robust national quantum ecosystem. The announcement underscores India's growing presence in the global quantum landscape and reaffirms the country’s commitment to advancing deep-tech innovation under the NQM framework.
