Executive Summary :

The aim of the work is to prepare and study of "functional Re(I)-based supramolecular coordination complexes (sCCs) including helicates, mesocates, cavitands and cages for molecular recognitions and anticancer activities". The proposedresearch work to achieve the objective involves: (a) preparation of neutral/cationic rhenium(I)-organic helicates, mesocates, cycles and cages using organic di-/tri-/poly-topic heterocyclic nitrogen donors and bridging/bis-chelating donors. The neutral sCCs are expected to soluble in DMsO whereas the cationic sCCs are soluble in water. Analytical and spectroscopic methods will be used to know the molecular structures of the metal-organic cyclic architectures. (b) The molecular recognition properties of the proposed sCC cavitands with aromatic molecules and anticancer drugs will be studied to know their potentialcandidates acting as drug carriers. (c) The proposed helicates, mesocates, cavitands and drugs included cavitands i.e., "drugcavitand" sCCs will be further studied for anticancer activities. The outcome of the studies is expected to provide a library of rhenium(I)trICARbonyl-basedsCCs which may acts as molecular sensors, drug carriers and anticancer agents.
