Executive Summary :

The study aims to explore various systems and scientifically important areas through syntheses, structural, magnetic, and spectroscopic vis-à-vis sensing studies. The scope of investigation includes generating mononuclear/dinuclearr/oligonuclear 4f, 4f-4f, 3d-4f, and M(diamagnetic)-4f, 3d complexes for the development of single molecule magnetes, single ion magnets, and magneto-structural correlations. The mononuclear 4f systems will include sandwiched compounds derived from Robson type tetraimino/tetraamino macrocyclic ligands, and focusing on single molecule magnets, single ion magnets, and magneto-structural correlations in lanthanide containing systems. The series of Mn(III)M(II) and Cr(III)M(II) compounds will be derived to explore magneto-structural correlations. Mixed-valence Fe(III)Fe(II) and Mn(III)Mn(II) compounds will be derived to switch class II to class II/III to class III types and develop double exchange-based sMMs. Heterobridged 3d-3d homometallic dinuclear compounds will be addressed to determine the correlation about the relative importance of different bridges in governing exchange interactions. Distinct exchange coupled compounds will be assembled by secondary inorganic or organic bridging ligands to create single chain magnets or extended 2-D/3-D molecule-based magnetic materials. Organic fluorophoric ligands or metal complexes derived from these ligands will be utilized as chromogenic and fluorogenic sensors for various types of analytes, including cations, anions, and nitroaromatics. The study will explore aspects such as EsIPT, TICT, PET, CHEF, and AIEE aspects, with a focus on water-soluble sensors and characterization of fluorophores, intermediates, and final association complexes by single crystal structure determinations.
