Executive Summary :

On large scales, galaxies are considered to be the fundamental building blocks of the Cosmos. Galaxies in the present observable universe are found to be distributed in a systematic way to form a complex network like structure that spans the entire Universe. This network, known as the Cosmic Web, comprises several distinct morphological components, such as clusters, filaments and sheets, which are the result of the consistent growth of inhomogeneities in the underlying matter density field. This over-dense structures encompass huge voids of different sizes. Each of these environments acts as a unique habitat for galaxies to form and evolve differently. It is essential to quantify the geometrical attributes of the local environment of a galaxy, in order to understand the different aspects of its evolution. PIs plan to quantify the geometrical environment of galaxies in the nearby Universe using the Local dimension estimator and study the mutual information between the environment and physical properties for galaxies in different types of structures in the cosmic web. Researchers also plan to use the redshift space bispectrum to model the redshift space distortions, in order to map the real space galaxy distributions.
