Executive Summary :

This research proposal aims to develop an efficient multifunctional catalytic system for the Hydroformylation of olefins to produce oxo products, which can be further converted into acetals amines, alcohols, esters, and acids. This is underpinned by investigating the range of cost-effective and designing ligands, abundantly available metals, and support for its catalytic applications. The hydroformylation of olefine leads to starting material for various important alcohols. Also, internal/terminal olefins are suitable starting materials for hydr0formylation using CO/CO2 to aldehyde, alcohols for economic and environmental reasons. Thus, the present proposal aims to reduce steps and one-pot synthesis of fine chemicals by developing tailored-made multifunctional catalysts based on rhodium and ruthenium-based catalysts capable of highly selective hydroformylation both terminal and internal olefins. Furthermore, bifunctional catalysts are supported on ionic carbons via. greener methods and use for the hydroformylation of industrially important olefines.
