Executive Summary : | 1. To identify four important ethnobotanical plants i.e. Alpinia galanga(local name- Kanghoo), Family- Zingiberaceae; Acorus calamus (Local name- O-hidak), Family- Liliaceae; Curcuma caesia (Local name- Yaimu), Family- Zingiberaceae; Pogestemon purprascens (Local name-Sangbrei), Family- Lamiaceae. 2. To find out the use of four identified plants in traditional healing systems and method of their uses. 3. To study various extraction methods in isolation of important bioactive molecule present in these plants and their antimicrobial activities against selected plant based microbes. 4. To identify antimicrobial/antibacterial compounds present in these points and co-relate them with their traditional uses. 5. Structural characteristics of bioactive constituents. |

Achievements : | Successfully identified four ethnobotanical plants of medicinal importance, Alpiniagalanga, Acorusc alamus, Curcuma caesia, Microtoena patchouli. Gathered and documented traditional knowledge on the medicinal uses and healing practices associated with these plants. Recordedthe traditional methods of preparation and application for treating various ailments. Perform solvent extraction to isolate and identify bioactive compounds from the selected plants, optimizing extraction protocols for efficient recovery. Conducted qualitative phytochemical analysis to identify the presence of major secondary metabolites such as alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, phenolics, saponins, and terpenoids in the plant extracts. Completed antioxidant activity assays to evaluate the free radical scavenging potential |
