The present invention relates to an environmentally benign process for the simultaneous preparation of nanocrystalline anatase titanium dioxide and hydrazine monohydrochloride by reacting an aqueous solution of titanium tetrachloride taken in concentrated hydrochloric acid with hydrazine monohydrate under constant stirring at ambient temperature and pressure.
