Process for the isolation of calliterpenone

The invention provides a simple method for isolation of calliterpenone (16.alpha.,17 dihydroxy-3-oxo phyllocladane), a phyllocladane diterpenoid with the plant growth regulating properties, from plant genus Callicarpa.
