IN372323: A process for the preparation of protein isolate from defatted moringa seed meal flour

The invention concerns a process for the preparation of moringa seed protein isolate from defatted moringa seed meal flour which do not employ extremes of physical and chemical environment. The process involved the extraction of proteins in aqueous salt solution prepared from selected salts followed by watering-out to precipitate proteins which are further dried to a proteinaceous powder. The protein isolate obtained contains all the constitutent moringa seed proteins (6.5, 14, 29 kDa) and have a true protein content of atleast - 90%, preferably, even up to 100% (d.b.) with a yield of 49-52% of the available protein. The protein isolate can be used in the conventional applications, such as protein fortification of processed foods, emulsification of oils and, nutritional supplementation in pet foods and animal feeds. They may also be used in the formulation of pharmaceutical and cosmetic products, as a coagulant in waste water, blood or any other process application.
