IN372221: A process for electrochemical deposition of pedot as HTL useful in organic solar cells

Several investigations have demonstrated that due to presence of hygroscopic, acidic and protonation nature of PSS in HTL, it influences the device stability and degradation. The aim of the invention is to obtain PSS frees HTL by electropolymerization of 3-4-ethylenedioxythiophene-based materials to overcome the stability problem of photovoltaic (OPV) devices. Additionally electropolymerization is a powerful technique to control the morphology, thickness and doping level of the polymers films for HTL. Electropolymerization also yields pure, least chemical defect and metal free HTL that will play significant role to improve the performance of the OPV devices which are essential for commercial applications. It may be mentioned here that in this invention Power conversion efficiency (PCE) of "2.67% and improved stability of "2000 hrs has been achieved in device configuration of ITO/e-PEDOT/P3HT:PC60BM/Ca/AI as compared to corresponding PCE of "1.64% and lifetime of "10 hrs in device configuration of ITO/PEDOT-PSS/P3HT:PC60BM/Ca/Al
