Maulana Azad National Fellowship for Minority Students (MANF)

The objective of the scheme is to provide integrated 5 yr fellowships in the form of financial assistance to students from minority communities, as notified by the Central Govt. to pursue higher studies such as M.Phil. and Ph.D. at Indian Universities/ Institutions/ Colleges. It caters to Sciences, Humanities, Social Sciences, Commerce and Engineering & Technology. 3% fellowships are reserved for Physically Handicapped candidates belonging to Minority Communities as per Govt. rules. Eligibility: (i) Candidate should belong to one of the minority communities as notified i.e. Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist, Parsi & Jain. (ii) Candidate should be registered for regular and full time M.Phil/Ph.D courses in University/Academic Institution by fulfilling conditions of admission of that University/Institution. (iii) The annual income of the beneficiary/parents or guardian of the beneficiary should not exceed Rs. 2.5 lakh from all sources. (iv) The candidate should have secured a minimum score of 50% at Post Graduate level. Fellowship amount: For JRF/SRF, the fellowswhip is Rs.25000/28000 p.m. plus House Rent Allowance (HRA) as per norms. The Contingency is Rs.10000 p.a. for initial two yrs and subsequently Rs.20500 p.a. for Humanities & Social Sciences & Commerce while Rs.12000 and Rs.25000 in the respective categories for Science students. In UGC-CSIR NET, annual contingency grant is of Rs. 20000. These are integrated 5 yr fellowships for M.Phil & Ph.D, subject to academic criteria in force for selection to Ph.D programme as well as yearwise continuation.
