Rekhi Centre of Excellence for the Science of Happiness aims to promote research, training and education and the practice of well being for students and teachers through the application of happiness and well being. Such research is based on the concept of improving the quality of people’s lives by focusing on strength that enhances positive emotions and positive relationships. Based on the science of happiness, the aim is to promote community, family and individual thriving, wellbeing and holistic self-development.

The Centre of Excellence in Advanced Manufacturing Technology has been established at IIT Kharagpur, supported by Department of Heavy Industry of Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, Government of India, along with a consortium of top industry members in the country. The centre aims to stimulate the innovation to manufacture smart machines in the capital goods sector.

The Centre for Excellence in Robotics (CER) at IIT, Kharagpur, India, is an umbrella body, under the aegis of which, all robotics-related activities of the Institute will be conducted and coordinated. The main emphasis of the center is the design and development of intelligent and autonomous robots and work on research problems and innovative projects that extend the state-of-art in robotics. The vision it is to promote and encourage student activities, research projects, and relevant courses related to this field

The Centre of Excellence in Science and Mathematics Education (CoESME) at IISER, Pune has been set up as a part of the Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching under the ambit of the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Govt. of India. CoESME aims to strengthen science education in India by engaging with various stakeholders, in particular teachers of school and undergraduate level science and mathematics.

The Centre of Excellence in Nanoelectronics (CEN) is a collaborative project between IIT Bombay and IISc Bengaluru. CEN offers multidisciplinary research program involving faculty from various departments. The center focuses on the design, fabrication and characterization of traditional CMOS nanoelectronic devices, novel material based devices (III-V compound semiconductor, spintronics, opto-electronics), micromechanical systems, Bio-MEMS, solar photovoltaics and polymer based devices.

The Centre of Excellence (CoE) in climate modeling is a major initiative taken at IIT Delhi and funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, to develop an India-Centric Climate Model (ICCM) to address certain pressing issues of climate change in India, and to educate manpower in numerical modeling of the Earth system and climate.

Centre of Nanotechnology (CNT) was established in December, 2005 as one of the Centres of Excellence. The faculty of the centre, drawn from different departments, is involved in developing state-of-the-art facilities at the institute and is vigorously pursuing interdisciplinary research on various current aspects of nanoscience and nanotechnology
