Executive Summary :

Deccan volcanism occurred near the K-T boundary and is home to one of India's most extensive and peculiar suites of lamprophyre complexes. This magmatism holds valuable geological treasures, revealing past geodynamic processes and providing significant implications for the enrichment/depletion processes of SCLM. Numerous studies have defined the suite of lamprophyres from different associated alkaline complexes and studied their textural genetic classification. However, an integrated model for the emplacement of all lamprophyres from different alkaline complexes in Deccan province is still lacking. Lamprophyres are intricately associated with carbonatites in many alkaline complexes, but their genetic relationship is not well established in a petrological and broader geodynamic sense. Emplacement ages on Deccan lamprophyre magmatism are still scanty and need verification. Newly available data suggest the dominance of small-volume lamprophyre and carbonatite magmatic events post Deccan tholeiitic volcanism and coincide with the spike in the Indian plate velocity. Magnetic fabric and AMS studies are proposed to infer the style and mechanism of magma emplacement, source depth, and deformational history. The proposed study aims to obtain detailed major and trace element geochemical, Ar-Ar isotopic, and paleomagnetic data of Deccan and Kutch lamprophyres. This study will provide a comprehensive petrogenetic and geodynamic model for the eruption of small-volume alkaline rocks and their tectono-magmatic implications.
