Executive Summary :

In the present project, Nano-enhanced phase change material (Ne-PCM) will be developed and utilized as energy storage material, which will further integrate with heat pipe based evacuated tube collector for enhancement in their performance and supply of heat during night time. It may be noted that before using of Ne-PCM, its thermal/chemical properties will be quantified for long-term utilization. Therefore, by integration of Ne-PCM with heat pipe based evacuated tube collector overcomes the limitation of conventional phase change materials. Also, the hybrid operation of the developed solar collector system can supply simultaneously hot water and hot air as per demand. This developed collector may decrease the overheating problem in heat pipes which will result in an increase in the life of the collector system and decrease the problem of variation in heat output from the solar collector.
