Executive Summary :

In alignment with the National Strategy for AI, this proposal aims at utilizing Advanced Deep Learning architectures for creating Light weight Mobile Application for recognition of Indian Greens and Leafy Herbs. The application will also create automated social media posts when every new pattern of consuming the herbs (like recipe) is identified by the user and is expected to serve as a major breakthrough for driving common people towards encouraging the cultural heritage of traditional integrated Indigenous medicinal practices which is otherwise slowly forgotten in the modernising rural India. The main contribution of the App is to facilitate the implementation of herb recognition in resources-limited areas. The primary objective is to alleviate the need of expert resources and chemical materials by being a qualified assistant that can make candidate decisions to identify the authenticity of the herbs and greens. In addition, this application shall promote the accessibility of herbs and greens by relying upon all rare varieties to be consumed widely in the right proportion by mentioning the amount of consumption, time and mode (raw / cooked / powdered / mixed etc. ) of consumption. This project will also facilitate the development of Indian greens and leafy herbs dataset on a larger scale. To be more specific, this proposal is expected to explore multiple deep learning based network architectures for robust image recognition of greens and herbs using Smartphones. The outcome of this proposal would eventually benefit pharma and other industries built upon Indian Traditional medicinal practices in this global pandemic era and globalise the usage of Indian traditional medicine as the next immediate alternative to allopathy in treatment of pandemic and epidemic diseases.
