Executive Summary :

In the proposed work, experts from engineering materials, machine design, manufacturing engineering, chemical engineering siddha, pharmacology and chemistry will be utilized. Most of the siddha medicines are being prepared through traditional method including utilizing clay pot, carrying out pudam (all side heating) using cow dung, heating raw materials indirectly, sealing with mud soaked cloth. Most of the time, highly skilled manpower is required to prepare siddha drugs as many manufacturing requirements are not comprehensively understood. By instrumenting traditional method of manufacturing, manufacturing requirement including rate of heat, pressure to be maintained etc. can be understood scientifically. designing and manufacturing appropriate processing devices with required instrumentation and by employing the latest engineering manufacturing practices in siddha medicine preparation, high quality medicine can be prepared at mass production level. The standardized manufacturing method helps to prepare standardize the medicine quality and increase the reliability of medicine without skilled manpower.
