Executive Summary : | Researchers propose using Organic Chemistry to address health issues related to Alzheimer's and Leishmaniasis diseases. They propose a broad category of molecules (privileged scaffolds) starting from benzopyrans, benzofuran, pyranocoumarins, and furo-pyrans. Novel synthetic methods will be developed to synthesize these molecules, with sustainability in mind. The purpose is to find potent scaffolds that can act as lead molecules. The concept of "Rational Drug Design based on Privileged structures" is encouraged, with benzofuran and benzopyran scaffolds being chosen as promising compounds. A highly facile regioselective and sustainable synthetic method will be designed for the synthesis of these compounds, which will be studied for anti-leishmaniosis and anti-amyloidal activities. A lead compound will be identified and improved based on the logical design and synthesis. The project aims to reveal substantial contributions to the field of Organic Chemistry by addressing health issues. |
