Executive Summary :

Identifying the presence of AMR bacteria in infected patient samples is an integral step in tackling AMR and is of crucial national importance. Current methods of identifying AMR bacteria involve extracting the blood sample for patients and culturing bacteria present in the sample in the presence of antibiotic drugs and measuring the growth rate of bacterial colonies. To address the weaknesses of current laser-based ASTs, this project proposes to develop a laser-based micro-diffractive AST based on the DiOPTER (Diffractive Interference Optical Analyzer) technology platform.
