Executive Summary :

The study aims to study the energy utilization patterns of a dual-mode diesel-cum-battery-powered prime mover for various farm operations. The research includes developing a model for the riding type multi-utility prime mover, simulating fraction load factors, and studying energy demand patterns based on draft requirements. The goal is to develop a Riding type Multi-Utility Prime Mover and matching equipment for small farm mechanization, including ploughing, rototilling, intra-row weeding, spraying, threshing, harvesting, and transport. The development of a common chassis for the Riding type Multi-Utility Prime Mover allows for the mounting of multiple equipment. A prototype with power take-off PTO mechanisms is also developed for both power modes. Matching equipment is designed for various farm operations, including ploughing, rototilling, intra-row weeding, spraying, threshing, harvesting, and transport. The study also evaluates the Riding type Multi-Utility Prime Mover and matching equipment on small farms less than 1.0 ha to increase farm and labor productivity. Performance evaluations, optimization of design parameters, ergonomic evaluations, and commercialization of the prototypes are conducted. The outcomes include a dual-mode Riding Type Multi-Utility Prime Mover, a common chassis for mounting selected farm equipment, matching equipment for various farm operations, and an affordable prime mover for multiple farm operations for small and marginal farmers.
