Executive Summary :

Healthcare data management has gained significant attention due to its potential for accurate, cost-effective patient care and high research value. However, the sensitive nature of data makes security and privacy a major issue. Blockchain technology, which works in a distributed manner, provides immutability, transparency, security, and privacy to stored data. It has been applied in healthcare data sharing to enhance patient care, achieve patient-centric interoperability, and improve medicine and drug supply chain management. Electronic Health Records (EHRs) are medical histories of patients over time, containing information from healthcare providers and clinicians involved in patient care across multiple organizations. EHRs aim to enhance interoperability among authorized users for better and comprehensive medical care and treatment. The proposed work aims to develop pragmatic frameworks and system models that enable blockchain-based healthcare data management systems, design efficient algorithms to address challenges such as interoperability, privacy, and security issues, investigate the application of blockchain in healthcare data sharing practices, and investigate the application of IoT in healthcare systems using blockchain technology for proper patient monitoring with assured security and privacy concerns. Experiments will include validating interoperability in federated/consortium blockchain with suitable frameworks and system models using hyperledger fabric networks, validating privacy and security in federated/consortium blockchain hyperledger fabric networks, investigating real-time data collection using healthcare monitoring sensors and integrating with Raspberry Pi cameras, and proposing efficient approaches to process gathered information for decision-making in patient care.
