Executive Summary :

The main objective of this proposal is to identify new family of compounds that have adaptable structures. Recently, have completed a project on identifying new chromophores in the solid state and exhibit prominent colors due to the allowed d-d transitions. The project aims to investigate the magnetic, electrocatalytic, ferroelectric (where applicable), dielectric behavior along with optical absorption and emission behavior in new inorganic oxide compounds. As part of the study, the new compounds would also be investigated for possible near IR reflectivity studies. It is expected that the project would produce many new families of compounds with interesting physical properties, which would be investigated in great detail.
