Executive Summary :

Objective: The proposed project aims to develop expertise on engineering of large floating offshore structures and systems for renewable energy farming. This will be the unique effort in this direction to develop the competence in India towards providing the complete engineering solution

Summary: Engineering of floating offshore structures for renewable energy systems include a number of challenging issues including the adaptation to accommodate different dynamic characteristics of systems and loads, hydrodynamic load modelling, specialised analysis including nonlinearities, stability and control, installation, monitoring and efficient power transmission. It is also important to develop innovative technologies for structural health monitoring of renewable energy structures for performance optimization to increase productivity and predictive maintenance to minimize downtime of installations. The proposed project aims to develop expertise on engineering of large floating offshore structures and systems for renewable energy farming. This will be the unique effort in this direction to develop the competence in India towards providing the complete engineering solution. Towards this, a concerted and comprehensive effort is being made through multidisciplinary, inter-institute, delivery driven approach to provide the complete solution for engineering of large floating offshore structures for renewable energy farming.
