Executive Summary :

The primary motivation of this proposal is twofold. (A) To a develop universal detection technique for velocity map imaging using 213 nm laser and (B) to understand the photodissociation dynamics of organic molecules leads to the formation of radicals and stable photoproducts. The current proposal aims at imaging several photodissociation products of organic molecules leading to the formation of radicals, such as NO, CH3, CF3, CN, and OH and stable molecules, such as CO and CH2CO and following 266 nm photolysis of the development of the universal detection technique to allows probing of many photodissociation products using a single laser source, which in the present case is the fifth harmonic of the Nd:YAG laser (213 nm). The use of 213 nm laser for universal detection simplifies the detection method by avoiding the cumbersome procedures of using dye lasers and the generation of vacuum ultraviolet (VUV). Secondly, in the proposal, several series of organic molecules which yield NO, CH3, CF3, OH, CN radicals and other stable molecules such as ketenes, CO and will be probed using the velocity map imaging technique. In this work, the focus will be on the following aspects, which serve as the objectives of the project listed below.
