Executive Summary : | The tumor suppressor p53 protein is a transcription factor that regulates several cellular processes. The active form of this TF is a tetramer. It prevents tumorigenic transformation through the induction of cell cycle arrest or apoptosis in response to a subset of stresses. We wish to develop novel methodologies that consider multiple spatial and temporal scales and multiple levels of biological organization, including atomic, molecular, and cellular, that integrate such molecular properties of cellular components directly into the Spatio-temporal properties of cellular networks. Project aims to exploit such problems using the principles of equilibrium and non-equilibrium statistical mechanics. |
