Executive Summary :

Bell’s theorem is a hallmark property of quantum theory which asserts that all statistics of quantum theory cannot be reproduced by any physical model respects local realism. This is widely referred to as quantum nonlocality and is at the heart of quantum foundations research. On the other hand, the device-independent nature of Bell’s theorem found its profound applications in quantum technologies. The quantum entanglement is the necessary resource for demonstrating quantum non-locality. The primary aim of this project is to gain insights into the multipartite entanglement and non-locality in quantum network scenario. Conceptually, such a form of non-locality is beyond the standard multipartite non-locality which uses a common source of entanglement. In contrast in a quantum network scenario, several independent sources of entanglement are used. More specifically, the plan of the project will be to study the generic quantum network having different topological structures and to compare the distribution of non-locality through the network. The device-independent nature of the quantum network will also be studied which will be useful for quantum key distribution in the network. Besides, Randomness is a very important resource in quantum computation and quantum cryptography. The device-independent certification of randomness in different quantum network configurations will also be is also studied. Finally, I would like to remark that our government has recently shown immense interest in developing quantum technologies in India. This project may be considered as a small but important step in this direction.
