Executive Summary :

CO₂ capture and its successful utilization as feedstock for the synthesis of chemicals offers a sustainable solution to the renewable energy and environment. In this proposed project PI will carry out the designing and synthesis of several new COFs and POPs, and immobilize metallic nanoparticles over their pore surfaces for the preparation of efficient heterogeneous catalysts. These COF/POP based organic and organic-inorganic hybrid materials will be explored as catalyst in the high pressure autoclave reactor for a wide range of chemical fixation reactions utilizing cheap and abundant CO₂ as a reagent for the synthesis of value added chemicals. Apart from exploring the potential of different supported metallic nanoparticles, efforts will be made to optimize the product yields by varying the CO₂ pressure and temperature of the reaction mixture. Moreover, recycling efficiency of these porous nanocatalysts will be optimized to make the process sustainable and energy efficient.
