Executive Summary :

This project aims to create a database of reliable chemical kinetics measurements for hydrogen/natural gas mixtures using a twin-piston rapid compression machine (RCM) at low-temperature conditions. The goal is to develop a detailed chemical kinetic model for gas turbine burners operating on H2 blended NG fuels. The project will install a state-of-the-art RCM experimental facility at IIT Delhi, providing essential fuel oxidation data for clean energy efforts. The project will also perform new ignition delay time measurements for H2/NG mixtures using an opposed piston-based RCM set up, focusing on the sensitization effect of NOx on auto-ignition at lower compression temperatures and high-pressure conditions. The experimental data will be used to validate and develop a detailed chemical kinetic model to describe the oxidation and ignition behavior of H2/NG/NOx mixtures.
