Details
Executive Summary : | Biomedical device - Orthodontic Application: - Orthodontic brackets (tooth braces) are fixed on the teeth enamel surface in fixed appliance therapy for alignment of teeth. After 2-3 years of treatment the brackets are removed (debonded) from the teeth surface. Various debonding techniques are commonly used by clinicians, which produces tensile, shear, compression and torsional forces on the bracket and helps in removal of the same from the teeth surface. Currently, all these techniques are used by the clinicians subjectively and patient feels severe pressure, pain and discomfort. Thus, this project aims to develop a "Controlled Force Orthodontic Debonding System" (CFODS) to quantify the magnitude of force on the teeth surface during debonding of brackets, and also to identify the least debonding force method with maximum comfort to the patients. |
