Executive Summary : | The Electronic Support Measures (ESM) system is designed to efficiently estimate, evaluate, and analyze signals related to Friend and Foe for the launch of directed energy weapons (DEW). The system uses Narrowband receivers for known signals with known parameters and Wideband receivers for unknown signals with unknown parameters. The database becomes bulky and takes time during real-time estimation, evaluation, and analysis. To ensure effective ESM systems, platforms should be given advance warning about adversary systems, especially radars on the battlefield. In today's threat landscape, threats mainly come from Surface-to-Air or Air-to-Air missiles with active seekers and extensive ECCM measures like activation of Directed Energy Weapons. Proactive action against enemy sensors is crucial before missile launches, and warnings for evasive measures can be given ahead of the impending launch. The design, development, and classification of Friend and Foe signals using Cognitive Radio based Modified Watson-Watt technique are essential for ESM systems. Information related to signals of interest related to Friends and Foe will be collected based on availability in libraries. The collection of data will be large and consist of both Interest and Non-Interest signals. Real-time collection of information using the modified Watson-Watt method will allow for estimation, evaluation, and analysis of signals and information without deviations related to identified parameters. |
