Executive Summary : | Reversible data hiding (RDH) is an active area of research in the field of information security with broad applications in the healthcare sector. The RDH schemes allow the embedding of the clinical report in the medical image when there is a need to transmit medical images and clinical information together. The RDH schemes ensure that at the receiver side, the receiver can take out the embedded clinical reports while losslessly recovering the original image. The research in the domain of RDH is started around 20 years back, but the existing RDH schemes are still not in a position to use in real-life applications due to various limitations such as low embedding rate, loss of information during image recovery, etc. A RDH scheme should provide enough embedding capacity without compromising the lossless recovery of the medical images to use the same for medical image transmission. This research will be focused on the design and implementation of RDH schemes well-suited for medical image transmission. The key objectives will be high embedding rate, lossless image recovery and security of the medical image and the embedded day. The proposed research involves a detailed study of the existing RDH schemes and the design and implementation of a new algorithm. We will do extensive result analysis based on the efficiency parameters such as embedding rate, bit error rate, image quality, time complexity and security parameters. |
