Genome Engineering/Editing Technologies Initiative (GETin)-Visiting Fellowship

This fellowship program between Indian institutes and premier U.S. Universities, in significant areas of Genome Engineering/Editing Technology (GETin) has been introduced in acknowledgement of the importance of strategies and techniques in genome modification as a modern day essential tool for research & development (R&D). The program is open to individuals whose research work has an interface with Genome Engineering / Editing Technology studies. The Program is envisaged to encourage and motivate outstanding students to take up research as a career path. It provides opportunity to best and brightest Indian students and scientists to gain exposure and access to world class research facilities in leading U.S. institutions as well as create attractive avenues for skilled overseas researchers to pursue in India or to mentor Indian scientist (s). It intends to pave the way for the next generation scientists and technologists from India to interact with American peers, thus helping to build long-term R&D linkages and collaborations. Upto 5 Visiting Fellows would be awarded every year.

Eligibility: U.S. Faculty or Foreign Post Docs presently working in U.S. (for at least 2 yrs) in a field having an interface with Genome Engineering /Editing Technologies. The applicant should possess Ph.D., M.D, M.S or equivalent degree with outstanding track record as evident though publications and other recognitions. Age limit is up to 60 years.

Fellowship amount: It includes monthly remuneration of Rs. 1.5 Lakh, Return Air Fare, Health Insurance of up to Rs. 65,000/- during the entire stay, one time Contingency of up to Rs. 65,000/- and Grant of Rs. 5 Lakh to the host institute in India to support the research during stay period. The duration of fellowship would include work at India Universities for a period of 2 to 3 months.
