Executive Summary : | The proposal presents the merging of transition-metal-catalysis with photoredox catalysis, metallaphotoredox catalysis, for the tandem C-H functionalization and annulation for the construction of diverse carbo- and heterocycles that are important in medicinal, agricultural and material sciences. The merging the dual catalysis, transition-metal-catalyzed directing group assisted C-H activation/functionalization and photoredox catalysis, can lead to a potential tool to construct tandem carbon-carbon and carbon-heteroatom bond formation that can be useful for the transformation of simple substrates to heterocyclic compounds with atom economy and functional group diversity. The development of organophoto catalysts with aromatic systems utilizing alkynes will be pursued using the Rh-catalyzed rollover pathway. The synthetic methods would be applied to construct medicinal important heterocyclic compounds. The synthetic and mechanistic aspects would be explored. These strategies would be valuable for the development of sustainable organic synthesis. |
