Executive Summary :

The main goal of the project will be to lay emphasis on the diverse and effective protocols for the synthesis of nitrogen, oxygen, sulphur containing heterocycles in general and biologically active oxazoles and oxazines in particular. In addition, biomolecules will be studied to investigate their catalytic properties and further enhance their applicability by immobilising them on the surface of magnetic or nonmagnetic nanoparticles. This catalytic methodology is supposed to significantly assist in reducing the levels of catalyst loading to bring about a reaction effectively besides being environmentally benign. As a part of the experiment, the optimum conditions like catalyst loading, media for the reaction, recyclability of the catalyst will be investigated. In addition, comparative study of the reactions under conventional refluxing, microwave heating and ultrasonication will also be included. Also, the biological activities such as anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-helminth, anti-tuberculosis, etc. of the synthesized heterocyclic compounds will studied in depth.
