Title:

Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) Raman Substrate

Area:

Physical Sciences

Focus Area:

Surface Plasmon Resonance

Social Benefits:

One step in this direction is this know-how CSIR-AMPRI have developed, which is a unique approach for making Raman substrates which utilize the localised surface plasmon to enhance the Raman signal several-fold in commodity Raman spectrometers. These techniques have wide application in pharmaceutical industries for detecting contamination in medicines or fake medicines, detecting adulteration and contaminants in food water, forensic etc.

Brief Description

Description :

RAMAN Spectroscopy and the prospects of the developed know-how in the identification of single molecules with application in pollution control, food security, medicine, biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry and others. The developed knowhow can help solve the modern-day problems of contamination and adulteration of food, medicines, water and other vital human needs. Raman spectroscopy is a very versatile technique; Sir C V Raman originally detected the effect in 1928. Even though the Raman effect was invented in India, there has been very less technology development in spectrometers or lasers. Raman spectroscopy can help to solve many of the modern-day problem faced by Indian society.
