Hybrid Planetarium is the new generation in planetarium system, combining the beautiful starry sky projected by opto-mechanical projectors with fulldome digital video systems which bring dynamic colorful images to the dome such as apparent motion of stars, space flight, planets, nebulae, galaxies and other astronomical images. In the hybrid planetarium system, the new advanced central star projector projects the stars and the planets as we see in the night sky, along with constellation images on the dome.

The aim of Tamilnadu Science and Technology Centre is to design, develop and fabricate Science and Technology exhibits, prototype demonstration equipment and scientific teaching aids for furtherance of Science Education.

The main objective of Anna Science Centre Planetarium is to popularise science and technology among people in general and students in particular.

District Science Centre is working under the National Council of Science Museums (NCSM), Ministry of Culture, Govt of India. District Science Centre's aim is to popularize science and technology among the public and to supplement science education in schools and colleges to foster a spirit of scientific inquiry among the students.
