Executive Summary :

This proposal aims to study wave propagation in various magneto-thermoelastic solids and determine the effect of magnetic field on phase speeds, amplitude ratios, and energy ratios of plane waves. The basic equations for the proposed problems include constitutive relations, Maxwell's equations of electromagnetic field, equations of motion, and heat conduction equation. The phase speeds, amplitude, and energy ratios of magneto-thermoelastic solids will be obtained using appropriate boundary conditions. Inhomogeneous waves, which are attenuated in a direction distinct from the propagation direction, will be considered in the study. The incidence of inhomogeneous waves will be considered for the correct method of study in thermoelastic solids. The project will use fractional order derivatives theory, which is more useful and economical than the classical approach of thermoelasticity. Isotropic magneto-thermoelastic solids and isotropic magneto-thermoelastic porous solids will be chosen as mediums, and the influence of rotation will be studied. The derived phase speeds, amplitude ratios, and energy ratios will be computed numerically using computer programming, and the correctness of the solved problems will be checked using the law of conservation of energy. The project will contribute to understanding the magnetic field effect in wave propagation of various thermoelastic solids and the development of wave propagation studies in thermoelastic solids.
