Executive Summary : | Metal ions like copper, manganese, and iron are essential for the survival of living organisms. However, their levels can disrupt normal physiology, leading to inflammatory pathways and oxidative stress. Recent research suggests that copper and cisplatin share a common metabolic pathway and toxicity pathogenesis. However, there is no evidence regarding the synergistic effect of these metal ions on neurotoxicity. The proposed study aims to study the combined neurotoxic effects of copper, manganese, and iron in SH-SY5Y neuroblastoma cells, examine their impact on differential gene expression, and investigate the impact of these metal ions on inflammatory pathways in BV2 microglial cells. The study will also investigate the impact of natural and synthetic molecules on these harmful effects, providing valuable insights into metal metabolism and neurotoxicity. |
