Executive Summary :

In this project, investigator proposes to prepare a family of superhydrophobic, trifluoroacetamide-functionalized M(II), M(III) and M(IV) (MII = Zn; MIII = Al, Cr; MIV = Zr, Hf) MOFs by solvothermal method. After examining their porosity, physicochemical stability and hydrophobicity, MOF-based pellets/composites (with fabric, foam, reduced graphene oxide, etc.) will be prepared. Then, the performances (absorption capacity and separation efficiency) of MOF-based pellets/composites for oil/water separation will be systematically investigated. Several inexpensive and eco-friendly superhydrophobic MOF-based pellets/composites having outstanding oil/water separation performances and high recyclability will be obtained.
