Executive Summary : | Due to the impending depletion of fossil fuel energy, the globe is seeking alternative energy sources and devices. The metal-air battery is one of the most promising choices for meeting future energy demands. Because India has a plethora of inexpensive metals such as aluminum, zinc, iron, and other metals, metal-air batteries employing such metals as an anode are commercially viable. Transition metal chalcogenides and pnictides are cost-effective cathode materials for metal-air batteries that demonstrate high electrocatalytic activity while having a low overpotential. However, when compared to their pristine transition metal oxide analogs, the electrochemical transformation of transition metal chalcogenides and pnictides cathodes to their corresponding oxides demonstrated high activity and endurance and, in addition, these metal chalcogenides and pnictides have a high activity that competes with the precious metal catalysts already on the market. |
