Executive Summary :

The suppurative keratitis is still major public health concern in this part of country. Bacteria and fungus are still one of the major causes though trends are reducing gradually because of timely installation of antibacterial and antifungal topical medication. Present study provides regional trend of bacterial and fungal aetiology in different general as well as tribal population in various suppurative keratitis with various type of fungus and bacteria. In conclusion, clinical suspicion by the ophthalmologists should be confirmed by microbiological finding prior to initiating antifungal and antibacterial drugs. Precise identification of the causative fungus and institution of appropriate treatment strategy and public awareness regarding the occupational hazard and disease natural history could save the blindness of the eye.
