Details
Executive Summary : | The study aims to synthesize ultrasmall, fluorescent glutathione-protected gold nanoclusters (Au NCs) that can be placed on the surface and deep inside lipid bilayers. The Au NCs absorb light at 405 nm and emit at 600 nm. Methylene blue (MB) will be incorporated into the lipid vesicles during the synthesis, producing a good FRET pair. Differential FRET with MB will occur depending on the Au NCs' position. The FRET parameters will provide bilayer thickness distances. The study will use steady state and time-resolved fluorescence measurements and fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy for detailed dynamics. |
