Executive Summary : | Areca dehusking machines are subjected to high impact loads during the peeling process, causing defects in various components such as upper chain shaft, driveshaft, main drive, brush shaft, camshaft, bearings, and cutters. These defects significantly affect the overall performance and life cycle of the product. Many farmers lack technical knowledge in machine repair and maintenance, leading to frequent replacements. There is a need for research in this area to enhance the life and avoid frequent replacements of these machines. The thermal spray technique can improve surface properties, while the High-Velocity Oxy-Fuel (HVOF) spray method can withstand wear and corrosion. Wear-resistant coatings on machine parts subjected to aggressive conditions and high temperatures are of great economic interest to improve service lives and reliability. Ni-Co alloy coatings have been used in mechanical components due to their desirable properties, such as high strength, good wear resistance, or resistance to corrosion. In this work, a Ni-Co alloy coating with different SiC-YAG composite powder will be produced using HVOF thermal spray and followed by fusing through microwave hybrid heating. This ceramic composite powder is expected to function as reinforcement and improve the tribological properties of SiC-YAG reinforced Ni-Co alloy coatings. The corrosion and tribological properties will be studied under different conditions, and the mechanical and metallurgical properties of the coatings will be studied to understand their wear, erosion, and corrosion behavior. |
