Executive Summary :

The project is aimed towards simulation assisted design, development, fabrication and integration of indigenous hydrogen storage tank and fuel cell system. Metal hydride based hydrogen storage device and high pressure (70 MPa) polymer lined fibre reinforced composite cylinder for gaseous hydrogen storage and 5 kW polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell will all be indigenously designed and developed. The developed systems will be integrated to demonstrate their capability for meeting the power requirements of both stationary and mobile applications. Thus, hydrogen based complete solutions; all indigenously developed will be integrated with a telecommunication tower, a healthcare unit and an automotive vehicle. Long term performance studies and scaling up issues will be also taken up. Five industries have expressed interest in supporting the demonstration of the above said system and later they will explore the possibility of adopting the technologies developed.
