Executive Summary :

The proposal aimed to utilise combination therapy by means of exploiting the synergistic effect of cellular transporters as well as co-administration of two or more therapeutic agents (pro-drug-free drug, free drug-free drug, etc.) with a different mechanism of function for treating cancer. The developed self-assembled structures can serve as a functional table scaffold for augmented loading of chemotherapeutic agents while conjugation with highly fluorescent and photostable Carbon Dots (CDs) that may enable real-time tracking and locating of the drug-loaded conjugates as well as serve as a useful tool for pro-drug activation.
