Executive Summary :

Objective: Assess the global transcriptomic and epigenomic changes following treatment with NMDA receptor antagonists like ketamine and other treatments such as electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), which also produces fast antidepressant action, in normal and depressed subjects. Understand neuronal (excitatory as well as inhibitory) and astroglial function following treatments with NMDA receptor antagonists and ECT in normal and depressed subjects. Evaluate the dynamics of homeostasis of proteome, in particular phosphoproteome and acetylome, in the affected nurocircuitries and following interventions with NMDA receptor antagonists like ketamine and ECT in normal and depressed subjects.
