Executive Summary :

The south India shield, a natural laboratory for studying continental evolution, is composed of several crustal blocks formed by geodynamic processes from mid-Archaean to Neo-Proterozoic time. The southern Granulite Terrain (sGT), one of the largest exposed Precambrian granulite-gneiss regions, is subdivided into large crustal blocks of the Archaean and Neoproterozoic ages by crustal-scale shear zones. The accuracy of the modelled Earth's attributes determines the understanding of the intricate interaction system that makes up the Earth's interior. The study aims to build a comprehensive structure of the lithosphere beneath sGT, with a special reference to mapping the lithosphere-asthenosphere boundary (LAB). The geophysical pictures produced from this research will enable quantitative depiction of the region's historical and present geology and aid in the development of predictive models.
