Executive Summary : | Next-generation wireless communication technologies are expected to offer massive connectivity, lower latency, and high spectrum and energy efficiency. Innovative technologies are needed to create a controllable radio environment. Intelligent reflecting surface (IRs) is proposed as a new technology to achieve this. This project aims to design and develop IRs-aided 6G wireless communication systems, studying channel modeling and signal propagation characteristics in indoor and outdoor communications scenarios. Analytical performance analysis will be conducted, and practical IRs channel estimation techniques will be proposed and analyzed. Low-complexity passive beamforming techniques will be designed. A prototype will represent the main elementary blocks of IRs-aided wireless communication systems. A modular platform based on software-defined radio (sDR) plus software technology will be used for high data rate communication, sensing, localization, and imaging-based applications for next-generation wireless networks, improving human life quality. |
