The India Alliance offers funding which covers the full spectrum of biomedical science from fundamental molecular and cellular studies through clinical and public health research for researchers at different stages of their careers. The India Alliance has no restrictions based on age or nationality in all its schemes.

The Department of Biotechnology (DBT), M/o Science & Technology, Govt. of India with National Institutes of Health (NIH), initiated a an Indo-US Research Career Transition Award Programme (Khorana-Nirenberg Scholars) to foster collaborative biomedical research and training. The goal of this joint programme is to establish long-term career paths for Indian scientists of exceptional ability and with strong potential for leadership in their field. The Programme has two phases, a period of post-doctoral training (2-3 years) at NIH followed by a research or faculty position (2-3 years) funded by DBT at one of India’s Centers of Scientific Research. The nodal agencies to implement the programme are the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Govt. of India and the HHS National Institutes of Health (NIH), USA.

TWAS-IACS Postdoctoral Fellowship Programme: For young scientists from developing countries (other than India) who wish to pursue postdoctoral research in certain fields of natural sciences, including biological chemistry, condensed matter physics, inorganic chemistry, materials science, non conventional energy, organic chemistry, physical chemistry, polymer science, spectroscopy and theoretical physics at the Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science (IACS), Kolkata, India. TWAS-CSIR Postdoctoral Fellowship Programme: For young scientists from developing countries (other than India) who wish to pursue postdoctoral research in newly emerging areas in science and technology for which facilities are available in laboratories and institutes of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) of India. For established scientific leaders in India or overseas to relocate their laboratory to any non-profit research institution within India, and nucleate a centre of scientific excellence.Duration: 5 yearsSupport: Generous personal support for the Fellow; Salary support for personnel, which may include Assistant Professors; Large quantum of funds for equipment, animals and consumables; Funds to attend scientific gatherings, for collaborative visits and to organize meetings.

Funds are provided for the Fellow's personal support; Generous and flexible research expenses - materials and consumables, equipment, animals and up to two research staff if required; Funds to foster collaborations - these include funds for collaborative visits (short or long term), training visits and travel to meetings, and additional allowances for scientifically justified visits of up to 12 months - these visits could be domestic or international and there is no restriction on frequency or location.

The Mitacs Globalink Research Internship is a competitive initiative for international undergraduates from Brazil, China, France, India, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, and Vietnam. From May to September of each year, top-ranked applicants participate in a 12-week research internship under the supervision of Canadian university faculty members in a variety of academic disciplines, from science, engineering and mathematics to the humanities and social sciences.

JICA FRIENDSHIP Project offers Ph.D Scholarship at Japanese Universities for graduates or expected graduates of IIT Hyderabad for FY2015 and FY2016. Participants of the 2nd (last) batch are supposed to complete their study in Japan and to leave from Japan by the end of March, 2020.

Two calls have been announced so far, under which 4 fellows have been selected for carrying out research at various institutes in Australia where they are undergoing training in highly specialized areas. 8 Fellows selected in the second call will be joining their respective host institutes in Australia shortly.
